Supposedly the sharp corner of that wedge on the right has been blackened from so many the people touching it... like the way the feet of religious statues have been polished by the touches of the faithful.

Brutality is the American way! @frannywentzel! I like that tidbit of trivia, though. Just like the breasts of a famous statue at my university were rubbed gleaming for good luck. At least we weren't part of the NWO ;-0
