vz: 18th Aug 2005 - 18:25 GMT

i hate those so much... _intentionally_ anti-people design! whenever i see one i want to tie a pillow to it, too bad it would be so easy for whoever's property it is to just take it off.

Peter: 18th Aug 2005 - 18:40 GMT

there are so many wonderful (but dubiously-legal) things one could accomplish by walking around any city with a diamond-tipped disc grinder in their bag!

a $3 can of insulating foam spray? dries in less than 10 minutes!

GGP: 18th Aug 2005 - 20:10 GMT

this is hilarious. and pathetic.

jack: 18th Aug 2005 - 23:15 GMT

there is a purpose for those little points, i have been told that a lot of people tend to get an itch every now and then and it is embaressing (did i spell that correctly) for people to, you know, scratch their behinds in public , so the city felt that the spikes would work perfectly for people with itches. also hemmoroid sufferers can feel a great sence of relief with the spikes in a single row. i have often been relieved of some terrible itches and no one knows what i'm doing when i girate back and forth on those seets. thank you

ea: 18th Aug 2005 - 23:59 GMT

it's a good thing we dont know who you are, mister.

olivia: 19th Aug 2005 - 14:53 GMT

yikes.

Peter: 19th Aug 2005 - 22:25 GMT

Nice colletion of anti sits I took one down in nyc a couple years ago I was very intrigued by them seeing we don't have any in Toronto that I think of

aer suzuki: 29th Jul 2006 - 00:27 GMT

this is really weird! i haven't run across this article before...here in seattle we don't have those, we call our anti-sits "cops". cool pictures anyhow.

In the event of fire--Couldn't the firemen just politely ask them to move? or perhaps a rights issue. Man that seems mean.

Sanzay: 18th May 2009 - 12:37 GMT

Continuing ea's idea of using can of insulating foam spray one can use pillow or at least some on-street garbage to build a nice nest. Learn from the nature ;-)

Franny Wentzel: 8th Dec 2009 - 19:59 GMT

Thse things just make it easier to throw a book bag on top and you can keep your balance better on account.

Adam: 10th Dec 2014 - 19:09 GMT

Did you all notice every single one of these is a fire department stand-pipe connector for a buildings sprinkler system, and that sitting on them could bend them (not one sit, but over time...) why the hell would you consider grinding the anti-sits off something that protects peoples lives???So you can sit.

Way to have an over developed sense of self entitlement America...

Peter: 10th Dec 2014 - 19:37 GMT

yes... we need to live in fear that some random schmoe sitting on a stand-pipe might lead to the death of random people!

this sounds logical!

lol. geez. but beware, people! sitting on something might out you as self-entitled american... lol...

Dur: 10th Dec 2014 - 19:46 GMT

It is hardened steel, these standpipes. Even the average most obese American asshole couldn't bend one of these in a thousand years of sitting. Get a metallurgical clue!

The know: 1st Mar 2015 - 07:09 GMT

these are meant to deter loitering, a lot of you need to get a clue.

There are often considerable lines and waiting times at a mega snow-cone stand that sells perverse junk food items. The dishes consist of popular single junk food items that were probably never meant to go together. How this...
