21 AND Gone...

author: JoeyD : San Jose, CA

As a San Jose (excuse me, Silicon Valley) Native, I have seen it now in an endless cycle of repeat. Not unlike the piles of electronic gadgets which consume far too much real-estate in our landfills, forgotten to the sands of time, so goes the cultural Identity of the pre-tech days in the Santa Clara valley. Despite the protests of the citizens, thousands of signatures on petition, spirited debate on the floor of the council chamber and a pending possibility of designated historical landmark status- My Fair city still punch drunk from the good old days of manufacturing...

Independent Supermarkets Like “Dick’s Supermarket” on Bascom Ave in San Jose have been long gone as integral parts of most Bay Area neighborhoods, Chased away by corporate concerns. However with the recent sale of Safeway to Albertsons and the closure of many stores likely, we may see more Dick’s soon.

Yesterday as I was looking through some photos I took years ago, I spent some time looking through a series I did for an adult website featuring a girl who had a thing for cemeteries out in Norfolk Va. I noticed a striking resemblance between the locations in several photos -to more recent snaps I took not far from home here at a local memorial park( unfortunately I cant post many of the ones from VA here ). But, Here is an example of the hill top mausoleum at both locations. The first Photo was taken in Norfolk,...

Shadow of Del Mar

author: JoeyD : Santa Cruz, CA

Inspired by Joey’s Del Mar Theater post, I went back into my archives and found some photos taken around the general area of the Del Mar. The Del Mar Theater is located on Pacific Ave in Santa Cruz CA. That area of pacific ave is known as “Pacific Garden Mall” or locally just as “The Mall”. “The Mall” has long been the cultural center of the city. No summer trip to the Santa Cruz beach would be complete without a stroll on “The Mall” if diversity is your thing. Before the 1989 Loma Prieta earth quake,...

Off the Dock

Found this picture on a network drive. Lots of places have the local vacation hot spot. In Minnesota it's just called Up North or Going to the Cabin. My wifes family had a house outside Park Rapids Minnesota...

Basking in the Sun on the 12th Floor

It's a privilege to work in an old building in Manhattan. From the top floor we can see a sea of water towers and we frequently peek into the lives of the people around us. The weather is more fascinating...
